Durene Kaye Gaskin

Durene Kaye Gaskin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed peacefully on July 19, 2026, in the arms of her loving daughter. Born on January 25, 1955, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Durene's warmth, compassion, and steadfast support touched all who had the privilege to know her.

Durene dedicated her life not only to her family but also to her work and community. She pursued higher education with determination, earning her associate's degree in Paralegal Studies and achieving distinction as a member of the Honor Society. This commitment to excellence carried gracefully into her career, where she served as a Paralegal in law for over 30 years. Through her diligent efforts and unwavering integrity, Durene was esteemed by colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Durene's gentle spirit and love for those around her defined her character. She was a loving, caring individual, a great listener who was always on your side. These qualities endeared her to family and friends, making her presence a constant source of comfort and encouragement.

Durene found joy in simple pleasures, frequently filling her home with the sound of piano music or gathering friends and family around a table for a game of cards. Music brought her happiness, and her love for it was well known among those close to her. She also found peace and comfort within her faith as a devoted Christian and love for Christ.

Her proudest accomplishment was her marriage to James Gaskin. Together, they built a life full of love, partnership, and cherished memories. Durene’s devotion to James and their family stands as a testament to the depth of her love.

She leaves behind her devoted partner James Gaskin; two loving daughters, Michelle and Jennifer Gaskin; and her treasured grandchildren; Sadie Hill, Alexis Hill, Hanna Largaespada, Nicholas Largaespada, Xavier Gaskin and Lily Largaespada and great grandchild Christopher Rouse. She is survived also by her brother, Bill Randolph and sister in laws Cassandra Gaskin, and Margaret Gibbs, whose lives were closely and joyfully connected to hers. Durene is reunited in peace with her mother, Dorothy Anderson Randolph; her father, Vola Randolph; and her sister-in-law, Janice Randolph, whose memories she held close to her heart.

Friends and loved ones are invited to remember Durene at the visitation, which will be held on August 8, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the same location.

Durene Kaye Gaskin’s presence was an abiding light to her family and friends, and her legacy of kindness, strength, and love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
