Douglas L. Peacock, age 68, of Fortville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 8.
Doug was born on March 9, 1957, in Greenfield, Indiana, to Buck and Gwen Peacock, who preceded him in death. A lifelong Hoosier, Doug built a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.
For 38 years, Doug dedicated himself to education as a teacher and football coach, shaping not only young athletes but young men and women through discipline, integrity, and straightforward wisdom. He believed that the simple and direct approach was usually the best way to solve anything—a philosophy he lived by in the classroom, on the field, and at home.
Doug was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Desa Peacock; his children, Kyle (Kelsi), Kollin (Aubrey), and Kaylee; and his grandchildren, Gracie, Maverick, Claire, Jack, Aiden, and Alleta, each of whom brought him tremendous pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Sherri Crider (Mike).
Outside of work and family, Doug found happiness in the simple pleasures of life—fishing (where the truth sometimes stretched a little), watching football, tending his vegetable garden, and living out his Christian faith. He was known for his devotion to excellence, his amazing one liners of wisdom, his integrity, and his unconditional love for family.
Doug’s legacy lives on in the countless students he taught, the players he coached, and the family he loved so deeply.
