Dorothea Louise Bailey

Dorothea L. Bailey, of Rushville, passed away on April 12, 2026. She was born on May 24, 1931, to Verl and Flora (Clevenger) Warfield.

Dorothea married James R. Bailey Sr. on October 24, 1950. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2001.

She had been a homemaker during her married life. Later, she became a librarian at Rushville Public Library, was the head cook at the Firehouse Restaurant and a CNA at Miller’s Merry Manor. She enjoyed her time as a CNA, that she also cared for elderly people as a private homecare nurse.

Dorothea is survived by her children, Tony Bailey, Richard Bailey, Verle Bailey and Bonnie Walden. She will be missed by her grandchildren,  great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; as well as many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son, James Bailey, 2 great grandchildren and 8 siblings.

Services will be held at Indiana Funeral Care West on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Noon. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Dorothea will be laid to rest at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville, Indiana at 2:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
