For 23 wonderful years, Donald shared his life with his beloved wife, Kimberly Ann Hayre, having been together for a total of 28 years. He was previously married to Barbara Ann Hayre, with whom he spent 31 years. Throughout his life, Donald was an individual who appreciated the simple joys. He had a passion for fishing, enjoyed dancing to country music, and loved the warmth of Florida, where he often traveled to spend time with family and friends.

Among those who hold dear memories of him are his children, Lisa (Eddie) McWhorter, Donald Hayre, and James (Cassie) Covey, as well as his stepchildren: Nick Shelton, Nicole Larussa, Nick Stevens, Dusti Hutchins, and Richard Chandler. Donald's legacy continues through his grandchildren—Neil, Christopher, Mikey, Donald, Dustin, Kyle, Trevor, Chayce, Faith, Hope, Kaden, Shayli, and Noah—and his 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored.

Visitation will take place on February 17, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM, and afterward, a graveside service will be held at Floral Park Cemetery, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222, starting at 3:30 PM.

Donald will be greatly missed, yet his love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
