Donald Garriott

Donald Leon Garriott, 75, of Laurel, Indiana, passed away on May 16th, 2026. He was born to Delmar Garriott and Geraldine (Willard) Gaskill on August 3rd, 1950, in Shelbyville, Indiana. Donald enjoyed nature, often spending time mushroom hunting, fishing, and mudding. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, quad, and side by side with his friends and family. When he wasn’t outdoors, he could be found playing cards and games or completing jigsaw puzzles. He was also a religious man, who often spoke about the importance of going to church and spending time with his church family.

Donald is survived by his children, Cynthia “Cindy” (David Stephens) Self and Douglas “Doug” (Kim) Garriott; his grandchildren, Kaelee (Terry Warrick) Garriott, Melodie (Bryan) Hall, Isaac Arueyingho, and Dakota Northern; his great grandson, Raylin Hall; his brothers and sisters-in-law; Larry (Jan) Garriott, Mark (Edie) Garriott, and Dennis (Karen) Garriott; his nieces, Amanda, Kimberly (James), Angela (Phil), and Alley (Vincent); his nephews, Jeff (Tonya) and Ryan (Johnna), his cousin Brent Garriott, and many great nieces and nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally (Loder) Garriott; his parents, Delmar and Geraldine; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Catherine (Carmen) Loder; his sister, Nancy (Loder) Cooksey, his stepfather, Paul Gaskill; and his niece, Kris Ball.

There will be a funeral service at First Southern Baptist Church located at 1159 South Airport Road Rushville, IN 46173 on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026. The visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm with the funeral service to follow at 12:00pm. Following the service, burial will take place at Fountaintown Cemetery at 2:00pm.
