Donald R. Dick, a cherished husband and dedicated veteran, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at Rosegate Village. Born on December 22, 1938, Don's life was marked by steadfast devotion to his family, his country, and his community.
Shortly after graduating from high school and entering into marriage, Donald answered the call to serve his country, proudly joining the military and serving in Korea. His commitment to duty was a defining chapter of his early life and exemplified the character that would guide him in all his endeavors.
Following his honorable service, Donald devoted 40 years of his career to Ford, where he was both a respected and valued employee until his retirement. Throughout his working years, he brought a sense of purpose and dedication that earned him lasting respect from colleagues and friends alike.
On February 12, 1962, Donald married Nannie “Marie” (Cash) Dick, a union that blossomed into nearly 65 years of loving companionship. As a devoted husband, he shared a life filled with warmth and mutual respect, an enduring partnership celebrated by all who knew them.
Donald was known as a good neighbor, someone who welcomed conversation and friendship with a genuine smile. His love for sports and bowling was well recognized, and he frequently shared stories of his proudest moments, including the memorable occasion when he bowled an 800 series. He was also an avid lover of the outdoors, often engaging those around him with his easy-going nature and friendly demeanor. Rarely was there a stranger in his presence, for he embraced every opportunity to connect and converse.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aldolphus “Dol” Dick; mother, Aileen (Gaddis) Dick; sisters, Betty Wesley and Ruby Godbey; and brother, Teddy Lee Dick. Donald’s memory lives on through his loving wife, Nannie “Marie” Dick, and his brother, Bobby Ray (Betty Jo) Dick, along with numerous neighbors and friends who will mourn his passing and honor his legacy.
Services to celebrate Donald’s life will be held at the Church of the Nazarene Southport in Indianapolis, Indiana. A visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on June 5, 2026, followed immediately by the funeral service until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Acton Cemetery, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Donald are welcome to join in these moments of remembrance and farewell.
Donald R. Dick lived a life characterized by loyalty, kindness, and a profound sense of community. His presence enriched the lives of those around him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
