Dennis Charles Harper

Dennis “Wez” Charles Harper was born January 28, 1957 in Key West, FL, the fifth of ten children born to Eugene and Henrietta (Quaiver) Harper, most commonly known as Bud and Hank. He rode to glory on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

Dennis worked alongside his brothers at Harper Brothers Carpentry, which they founded together in 1982. His sister, Kathy, introduced him to the love of his life, Teresa, in 1983. Teresa gifted Dennis with two sons, Duane and Jason, from a previous relationship that he loved and raised as his own from the moment they met. In 2003, Duane made Dennis a grandfather and honored him by naming his grandson Justin Charles … a special tribute to Dennis. Justin turned out to become one of the most important people in Dennis’ life. In fact, it became almost a rare sight to see them apart.

Later in life, Dennis became an advocate and sponsor for those struggling with addiction through the AA organization. Dennis’s love of motorcycles led him to become the President of the Indy Chapter of ARM, the Association of Recovering Motorcyclists. For over ten years, Dennis helped raise money for the Addiction Recovery Centers on the Eastside of Indianapolis by hosting chili suppers, attended by members from all over the country. He also enjoyed participating in ARM rides throughout the Midwest and/or this side of the Mississippi.

Dennis was preceded in death by both his parents, sister (Sandra Harper) and brother (Scott Harper).

He left to cherish his memory are his wife, Teresa; sons Duane and Jason Knight; grandson Justin Charles; sister Kathleen (David) Smith; brothers David (Mary), Paul (Cherie), Jeff (Julie), Doug (Nancy), Scott’s wife Stacy, Louis, and Gary. Additional survivors include many, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Dennis’ life will be celebrated on Friday, October 13th at Indiana Funeral Care located at 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250. Visitation and services from 10AM – 12PM.
