Dennis Michael Blackmon

Dennis Michael Blackmon passed away on July 27^th, 2023, at the age of 60 at Community Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on May 18^th, 1963, in Vancouver Washington to Lola and Billy Blackmon; he was the youngest of 6. He was a devoted brother to his siblings; Roger, CaSandra (Husband Ron), Frank, Linda (Husband Doug), and Billy Wayne (who passed when he was 4). He was a loving Father to his son Andrew Blackmon (wife Hillary Blackmon) and Andrew was Dennis’s biggest accomplishment and pride and joy of his life.

Dennis had a big passion for caring for the community and his family.  He was a devoted son who cared for his mother until she passed away in 2020. He spent 26 years working in Home Health Care and he loved providing love and stability to the clients he cared for. He also had a passion for music.  Dennis started playing the drums and singing at a young age and he continued to play and sing throughout his life.  He was a part of his worship team at his Church, he enjoyed singing about the Lord to anyone who would listen.

He had many hobbies including his music; he liked to sit around a table and play games with family and friends, watch movies, camping and he loved animals. Dennis’s other big passion was our Lord Jesus Christ.  He lived every day to serve the Lord and that poured through in the work he did with his clients. 

Dennis is survived by his son Andrew Blackmon (daughter-in-law Hillary Blackmon), Siblings; CaSandra (Ron), Frank, Linda (Doug), Nieces and Nephews; Larry (Tiffany) and their children (Katherine, Angelina and Randall), Jeramy (Amanda), Jade (Curt) and their children (Peyton, Noah, Eli and Ava), Asher (Tasha), Darah (Patrick) and their children (Aiden, Landon and Kalen), Raymond and his children (Alexandria, Reese, Timothy and Celeste), Brian (Yunjae), David, and the loving clients he served for 26 years.

Preceded in Death by his mother and father Lola and Billy and his brothers, Roger, and Billy Wayne.

Visitation for Dennis will be at East Rawles Church of God in Indianapolis, IN on Thursday August 10^th, 2023, starting at 9:30 AM with a service following that starts at 11:30 AM.  He will be laid to rest at Washington Memorial in Indianapolis, IN following the service.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Andrew Blackmon for funeral expenses.
