Deloris Arline Chilton

Deloris Arline (Schwind) Chilton, 87, of Indianapolis, Indiana went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

She was born on October 15, 1936, to Ernest Schwind and Elsie (Ladigo) Dawson in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Deloris is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Chilton; children, Karen Norton (Mike), Robin Tyner (Jay), Jane Norton (Pat); brother, Don Schwind; grandchildren, Michael, Danielle, Josiah, Hannah, Charity, Faith, Kristen, Candace, John, Leah, Emily, Jonathan; and 10 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Elsie, and brother, Stanley Schwind.

Deloris was faithful to her husband to the end as she supported him in ministry, passionately serving others through music, children’s programs, food and hospitality while performing administrative tasks for the church. She also volunteered at Bearing Precious Seed, printing and collating Bibles to send throughout the world. Deloris worked 19 years as an Administrative Secretary for the City of Indianapolis, culminating in her retirement in 2001.

Deloris loved playing the piano, singing specials, listening to Christian music, teaching the women's Bible class, and fellowshipping with others. She had an attention to detail and loved beauty and order. Deloris was fully devoted to her Lord, her husband, and her family and would sacrifice daily, always putting their needs before her own.

Visitation is Saturday, February 10, 2024, 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Berean Baptist Church, Greenwood, Indiana.

Funeral service will begin at noon.

Burial to immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, Indiana.
