Declan James Chilson, four months old, went peacefully to be with Jesus on August 13, 2026. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on the hearts of those who knew and loved him will last a lifetime.
Declan was a sweet, happy, and laid-back baby. He loved to smile and giggle, and he especially loved when someone talked to him. His beautiful smile, with a little dimple on his right cheek, melted the hearts of everyone around him.
In his short four months, Declan was already discovering so much of the world. He had just started rolling over and loved being swung up toward the mirror so he could see his own reflection. He was content simply to be held, talked to, and loved.
Declan was deeply loved by his family and by so many others whose lives he touched. His big sister, Skye, will forever carry the memory of her precious baby brother in her heart. His little life brought joy, love, and a tenderness that cannot be measured.
Although we wish we could have had many more years with Declan, we are grateful for every precious moment we were given. His life reminds us that even the smallest among us can leave an immeasurable imprint on the hearts of others.
We grieve because we loved him deeply. We will miss his giggles, his smiles, his sweet personality. We will miss watching him grow and discovering who he would become.
But our hearts hold onto the hope that this is not goodbye forever. We are thankful for the promise of Heaven and for the assurance that one day we will see our sweet Declan again.
Until we meet again, sweet Declan. You were loved beyond words, treasured beyond measure, and will never be forgotten.
