With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we announce the passing of our beloved Deborrah Denise Turner (also known as Debbie, DT or Turner), a caring daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Born and raised on the west side of Indianapolis, Indiana, Deborrah was educated through the Indianapolis Public School system, where she laid the foundation for a life marked by courage, strength, and a love for helping others. She found her calling in the healthcare field, dedicating many years as a skilled and caring phlebotomist, among other healthcare roles.
Deborrah had a deep love for cooking and found immense joy in preparing big, soul-satisfying meals for her family. The kitchen was the heart of the home—filled with the smells of home-cooked food. When not in the kitchen, she could often be found beautifying the yard, taking great pride in creating an immaculate and neat greenspace.
Music was the rhythm of her soul. Whether she was listening to smooth jazz, the rich harmonies of gospel, timeless old school R&B, or vibing to the powerful lyrics of Tupac, she found joy and connection in several genres.
She was preceded in death by her loving, caring, and supportive mother, Anita L. Boler (Alex), whose memory she carried close every day.
She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Clarence Turner (Verline); loving siblings Duane A. Turner (Mary), Donna L. Craig (Dennis), Clarence Turner, Jr., Todd Turner, Lisa Turner, Teresa Turner, Natalie Turner, Freddy Jefferson, Oliver Jefferson (Alesia), Dennis Jefferson (Mary), Michelle Ford (Darnell), Larry Jefferson (deceased), James Jefferson (deceased), Linda Jefferson (deceased), Willie Jefferson (deceased). Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Whitney R. Smith; grandson, Quante’ Craig; and granddaughters, Ahviauna Craig, Raivyn Faulkner, and Divinity Faulkner.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Deborrah’s life was a beautiful testament to endurance, resilience, and determination. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten!
