It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Deborah Ann (Klaser) Stewart announce her passing on February 20th, 2026 in Carmel, IN at the age of 72. Debbie was born on June 4th, 1953 in Evansville, Indiana to William A. and Arlene (Grall) Klaser. After graduating from Reitz Memorial High School, Debbie attended Purdue University to pursue her love of all things beautiful by studying fashion retailing.

While at Purdue, Debbie became a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. There she made treasured friendships with her sorority sisters.

Always an avid reader, Debbie loved her mysteries, especially Agatha Christie. Her favorite song was Mac the Knife.

After graduating from Purdue, she worked for Thornton-Haymond Medical Lab as an administrative assistant to the doctors in Indianapolis. Shortly thereafter, she met her future loving husband John. They married in 1980.

Antique collecting and designing beautiful interiors were passions of hers. She had a remarkable eye for detail and expressed those talents by making welcoming homes for her family and helping many friends with their homes. If you remember Debbie, you will remember her special way of accessorizing each of her outfits with the perfect embellishment.

A loyal member of St. Margaret's Hospital Guild, Debbie devoted many happy hours to volunteering with the Decorator's Show House and served as Decorator Chair one year.

A devoted dog lover, together with John, they rescued and loved many dogs. Above all, Debbie loved her family. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, John R. Stewart, son JK Stewart (Megan), son Michael Stewart, grandson Lochlan, granddaughter Aurelia, sister Nancy Grafe (Brent), brother-in-law Jim Stewart (Betsy), sister-in-law Sandy Boswell, a number of nieces and nephews and an unlimited number of friends!
