David Workman

David Lee Workman, 71, passed from this life on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital following surgery complications. Dave was born in Battle Creek, MI on August 15, 1951 to the late Henry and Beverly (Johnson) Workman.

David graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1969. He joined the U.S. Navy following graduation and served in the Vietnam War. He managed Workingman’s Food Store and Miller’s Milk House in Muncie before entering the trucking industry as a driver manager for Burlington Motor Carriers. He continued in this role until his retirement from Celadon in 2018. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Indianapolis Colts and truly enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters.

Surviving are his daughter, Nicole Harty (Ty), Yorktown; his two beloved granddaughters, Jocelyn Harty and Rosanna Harty, Yorktown; 3 sisters Vicki Pierce and Brenda Golliher (Tony) of Muncie, and Peggy Reese (Michael) of Spring Hill, TN; several extended family members; and special friends Greg Hathaway of Ft. Wayne, Ruth Hein of Indianapolis, and Larry Walker of Muncie.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

At David’s request, Indiana Funeral Care is entrusted with his cremation.
