David Philip Swanson was born on April 16, 1948 to the late Earl and Delpha Swanson in Clayton, Missouri.
Dave had a lifelong love of sports. He was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, UConn basketball, and Indianapolis Colts. An avid runner, he participated in track during his school years and later enjoyed running through Eagle Creek Park. Dave was passionate about aeronautics and built a career in the industry, working with Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney. His enthusiasm for aviation also led him to earn a private pilot license.
Committed to serving others, Dave participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana. He also volunteered with Good Samaritan Network, an organization dedicated to demonstrating Christian love by serving underserved individuals and families. Dave's faith was an important part of his life. He believed in God and devoted time to reading the bible and personal reflection.
On June 2, 2001, Dave married the love of his life, Linda Di Bortolo. Together, Dave and Linda shared a love of travel and created many cherished memories. Dave will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and deep love for his family and friends. His warmth, generosity, and compassion touched many and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, brother Stan (Charlene) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donations may be made to Good Samaritan Network.
