David Allen Pritt, 68, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on June 6, 2026. He was born on November 30, 1957, to Carl and Donna Pritt, the second child and first son of the family.

David spent much of his childhood exploring the woods beside his family home, where his imagination and adventurous spirit thrived. Whether playing cowboys and Indians, pretending to be a spy, or simply discovering the beauty of nature, he developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and independence.

He attended Woodview and Creston Jr High, and Warren Central High School, where he was a proud member of the wrestling team, graduating with the Class of 1975.

Following high school, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country. He completed boot camp in San Diego and was stationed in Hawaii and traveled the world during his military service. While serving as a Machine Gunner, he received: rifle expert badge, Marine Corps expeditionary medal, sea service deployment ribbon and received an honorable discharge as Corporal (E04) on May 23, 1982. One of his cherished memories was hosting his parents in Hawaii, proudly sharing the island’s history and beauty while guiding them on tours of the area he had come to love.

David was an outdoorsman at heart who enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, PlayStation, and spending time around a good card game. Though private and known for his tough exterior, he devoted himself to watching over and caring for his mentally and physically disabled sister, Mary Lou, throughout her life.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Donna Pritt, and his sister, Mary Lou Pritt.

He is survived by his sister, Rebecca Jern; brother, Daniel Pritt (Laurel); nieces Jennifer Morris (Ashley), Samantha Schnurr, and Sarah Pritt; nephew Michael Jern (Tamara); great-nephews Aaron Griesel (Alexis), Austin Alte, Michael Schnurr Jr., and Cole Griesel; great-nieces Abigail Morris, Jessica Stout (Casey), Megan Morris, Morgan Noble (Alex), and Akane Jern; great-great-nieces Emerie and Addison Griesel and Macie Alte; and great-great-nephews Rylan Alte and Dominic Noble, along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

The immediate family will be at the Crownhill annex for the placement of David’s remains.

A memorial service will be held at a different time.
