David W. Myers, who most recently resided in Indianapolis, but was formerly a resident of Dupont, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 27th 2026. He was 66 years old.

David was born in Bedford, Indiana; his family resided on their 250-acre farm near Huron, Orange County, Indiana. He was the eldest child of Hubert Leon and Imogene Lucille (Burris) Myers.

As a youth, David was active in sports in Mitchell, Indiana. He learned a strong work ethic from his father and delivered papers in Mitchell after school. He spent many summers putting up hay. In High School, he attended the Bedford North Lawrence Building Trades, where he studied carpentry. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1978.

David was good at whatever he turned his hand to. Among his many occupations were: produce manager at several supermarkets, carpenter, lineman, concrete finisher, and a clerk in the U.S. Army! He retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant in 2009 after 26 years of service.

David loved gardening and always had an acre or two of fruit trees, blackberries, field corn, and every vegetable under the sun. His homemade hot boxes were planted early in the spring, as was his garden, with whatever would begin to grow when the final frost was losing its grip, as winter gave way to spring! His home was filled with fresh canned food from his property, and his freezer was filled with venison. Among his hobbies were deer hunting, mushroom hunting, bird hunting, bird dog breeding, and wine making.

He is survived by his wife Machel, his children: Tyler Myers (Michelle), David Cody Myers (Ashley), Matthew Myers, and Aleisha Myers.

His surviving brothers are: Roy (Chris), Dennis (Tracy), Doyle (Susan), and sister, Regina (John). His parents, Leon and Imogene Myers, and brother Emery Myers preceded him in death.
