David E. Young, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, August 8, 2025. Born on October 28, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the beloved son of Thomas and Margaret Young. David's journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit, dedication to fitness, and deep love for his family.

A proud graduate of Broad Ripple High School and Franklin College, David was not only an academic achiever but also a passionate athlete. He was a weightlifter and bodybuilder, drawing inspiration from the legendary Harold Poole, and he excelled as a champion bowler and golfer. His commitment to physical fitness was a testament to his belief in living life to the fullest.

David's heart was as big as his accomplishments. He cherished his wife, Janice Young, whom he lovingly referred to as “the most beautiful wife and best friend.” Janice, a former Nurse of the Year for Community Hospital East, stood by David's side through all of life's ups and downs. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Young; stepdaughters Cheryl Rose Clifford (David) and Joanie Rose; grandchildren Maddie Harper, Brylan Harper, Nicole Clifford, Morgan Clifford, Jessica Lazarenco; and three great-grandchildren. David often expressed pride in his family, referring to them as “champions in their own right.”

David was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Margaret Young, his brother, Ken Young, and his stepdaughter, Angela Rose Harper.

In accordance with David's wishes, no formal service will be held. Instead, he encouraged all his friends and family to celebrate his life by living their best lives, just as he did. His legacy of strength, love, and encouragement will continue to inspire those who knew him.

David E. Young will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
