Sergeant Danny McLean, August 19, 1983 - August 24, 2026

Danny McLean of Columbus, Indiana passed away on August 24, 2026. Born in Janesville, Wisconsin, Danny was a faithful son and brother, a loving father, and a proud American soldier.

Danny graduated from Columbus North High School in 2002, where he played varsity football and was an active member of the Columbus Young Marines and the Indiana Civil Air Patrol. He enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 10th Mountain Division ( light infantry) in Ft. Drum, New York. During his military career, he completed multiple combat deployments in support of Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. He was an avid athlete who enjoyed baseball, basketball and track. Additionally, he was an outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his son Hunter, his mother, father, sister and brother and fellow service members who miss him deeply.

A private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 10th Mountain Division Foundation in support of wounded veterans and their families or The Wounded Warrior Project.
