Dainis “Dino” Ozers, 68, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on September 1, 1956, in Chicago, he lived a life filled with creativity, adventure, faith, and an unwavering love for his family.
A master woodworker and gifted sound engineer, Dainis was a proud member of IATSE. Over the years, he toured with iconic artists like Bob Seger, Blondie, The Judds, and Journey. Whether he was fine-tuning a live mix or building something with his hands, Dainis brought both precision and passion to everything he touched.
Dainis’s talents extended far beyond his work. He was naturally curious, always ready to explore something new or tell a story that would leave the room in laughter. He hiked to find peace in nature, cooked with love, drove for the joy of the open road, and found solace in good music. He had many passions in life, but it was his love for people that left the deepest impression.
To those who knew him best—whether as Dad, Dino, Uncle Daini, or Opa—he was a gentle, steady presence. He had a gift for making people feel special simply by being present. He had a way of making you feel seen and valued, simply by listening.
Dainis took great pride in his Latvian roots and lovingly passed down the traditions and values to future generations. His heritage wasn’t just something he remembered—it was something he lived, daily and deliberately.
He is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Caitlin (Kristian) Young and Alija (Paul) Burris; his grandchildren, Belle, Talia, Corbin, and Caelan; his sisters, Mārīte and Līga; and his brothers, Alnis, Ziedonis, Guntis, and Imants.
He now reunites with his beloved parents, Maksis and Vilma Ozers, his sister Spulga, and his brother Indulis.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at the Latvian Community Center (1008 W 64th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260).
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m.
Procession to Floral Park Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
Dainis’s deep faith was a cornerstone of his life and a comfort in his final days. Surrounded by those who loved him most, he left this world just as he lived in it—with grace, humor, courage, and abiding love.
May his memory be a blessing and a source of peace to all who knew him.
