Cynthia Lee (Chambers) Greenwood, 73 of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on July 9, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by loved ones. Cindy was born on October 2, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Brownlee B. and Donas E. Chambers. She was the youngest of three children. Her sister, Beverly R. Nail, preceded her in passing. Cindy is survived by her brother, Michael F. Chambers (Opal).
A loving and dedicated wife, Cynthia is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, Russell C. Greenwood Jr., whose enduring partnership reflected the deep bond and affection they shared throughout the years. Cynthia’s role as a mother brought her great joy and pride. Her two daughters, Sherri L. Hays and Tracy L. Baird (Cory), remember her as a nurturing guide, steadfast supporter, and source of wisdom. Her grandchildren, Dylan J. Williams and Katrina “Katy” L. Baird, were an endless source of happiness. Cynthia took immense pride in their accomplishments and found joy in every moment spent with them.
Cynthia’s life was characterized by warmth and kindness, and she touched the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her enduring commitment to her family, as well as the strength and grace she displayed through life’s challenges and celebrations alike, stand as a testament to the person she was.
Family and friends will remember Cynthia for her unwavering patience, thoughtful counsel, and generous spirit. Cindy was a fierce defender of her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will remain a guiding light to all who loved her.
Details regarding graveside services to honor and celebrate Cindy's life will be shared with family and friends at a later date. She will be laid to rest at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville, Indiana. As we mourn her passing, we extend our gratitude for the time, love, and memories Cindy bestowed upon us. Her legacy endures through her family and the countless lives she touched, and she will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
