Listen to Obituary

Corey Lynn Howell, the son of Shonnaca Elaine Howell and Jeffery Lynn Whitney, was born August 22, 1988, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He attended Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Corey was employed at Harden’s Home Care Services. He also was a part-time forklift driver.

As a Father Corey’s greatest pride was his children, through them his spirit continues. As a uncle he always kept a playful sense of humor with his Nieces and Nephews.

Corey (Cash) was always himself, unfiltered, and genuine he would make you laugh not because he was trying to be funny, but because he was just being Corey. His sense of humor was goofy and off beat, The kind that caught you off guard and left you smiling even after he walked away. He was easy to love, with not a mean bone in his body. He was full of energy and brought a lightness that made you feel that everything would be okay.

Corey Lynn Howell departed this life on December 18, 2025, at 37 years old. He was preceded in death by his brother Jeffery Lynn Howell, Aunt Deborah Dillard, great-grandmother, Laura Gilbert, Grandmother Doris Jean Whitney and Grandfather James Thomas Howell.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his children Aaniya Lynnae Howell, Ashtonn Cash Howell and Ka’Maria Smith, loving mother Shonnaca Howell, ‘I’ll miss you forever, Dory. Love Moma, and Father Jeffery Lynn Whitney, His beloved Grandmother Survella Gilbert, He was deeply loved by his sisters Shanea Howell and Shanell Howell, brothers Mikhail Williams, Stephen Riley/Howell and brother-n – law Mark Harden Sr. Niece’s Jada Howell, Myla Harden, Nephews Mark Harden Jr. and Mar’khy Harden, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, loving family and friends.

Corey now reunites with his brother Jeffery Lynn Howell, who was born on December 18, and passed on December 25, 2009, a connection to powerful to ignore. Dates that once meant celebration now carry remembrance, reminding us that love does not disappear, it gathers.

Though Corey’s time here was far too short, his presence was full. As we remember Corey, we hold close the words once shared for his brother, words that now belong to him too. “Life is not forever, Love is.”
