Clarence Sipe

March 15, 1963 — October 4, 2023

Clarence Lee Sipe ("Lee"), of Martinsville, Indiana, was welcomed by God into heaven on October 4, 2023. Lee was born to William and Stella (Sturges) Sipe on March 15, 1963, in Indianapolis, Indiana and was one of five siblings.

Lee graduated in 1981 from Crispus Attucks High School. After graduation, he joined his brothers and began working as a union tile setter. Lee prided himself on the quality of his work and was arguably one of the best tile setters in Indianapolis during his peak years. Lee served as a union tile setter for over forty years. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 4 IN/KY. In addition to maintaining a full-time career, Lee found time to become a certified welder and had aspirations of eventually working in that field. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion.

Lee had a few hobbies throughout his life such as fishing and fixing up old cars. He took classes in autobody repair and also learned to stain glass with one of his best friends, Bob Deal. One of Lee's favorite things to do when not working was ride his Harley Davidson. He would put on his sunglasses and let his hair flow in the wind as he cruised on weekends. When he wasn't working or pursuing his hobbies, Lee loved spending time with his family. He really enjoyed seeing everyone at family gatherings and catching up. Lee was a jokester and always had a smile for everyone. When being described by those who knew him best, the sentiment generally expressed most often is that "Lee would give you the shirt off his back". Lee's willingness to help his friends and family was without bounds and he only wanted to see everyone close to him healthy and happy. Lee brought a fun and relaxed energy to the room and always had a nice word for everyone. He will always be remembered as a generous and loving man.

Lee was taken from this world much too soon. His absence and the love he had for his family and friends will be felt for a very long time. Lee is survived by his siblings, Billy Sipe, James ("Jim") Webb and Mary Ella Deal. Lee is predeceased by his father and mother, William and Stella Sipe and his sister, Diana Slaven.

A celebration of life will be held on November 4, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars #2839, 3368 Wilcox St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46222.
