Christopher Shaun Woods, known affectionately to all as Chris, passed away peacefully at his home in Cicero, Indiana on October 15, 2026, at the age of 42, following a courageous and graceful battle with cancer.
Born on September 25, 1984, in Oscoda, Michigan, Chris spent his childhood growing up in Las Vegas. He later moved to Ohio, where he spent around 20 years building a life in Fairfield before relocating to Cicero, Indiana in 2024. Throughout his career, Chris dedicated himself to the insurance industry, where his sharp mind and professional dedication shone.
A true gentle giant, Chris was known for his heart of gold, treating every person he met with unwavering love, kindness, and respect. He was incredibly intelligent and possessed the patience of a saint. His calm, loving energy made him a natural with children and animals, both of whom adored him instantly. A devout Christian, Chris walked through life with a spirit of generosity, always willing to do absolutely anything for his friends and family. Throughout his illness, Chris remained remarkably strong, never once giving up his fight.
Outside of work, Chris was a passionate collector and an enthusiastic fan. He loved comic books, with a special devotion to Marvel and his favorite hero, the Hulk. He found great joy in attending Comic-Cons, collecting trading cards, and building Legos. He loved watching competition shows, and he fiercely cheered on his favorite sports teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
More than anything, Chris was a family man. He was a deeply devoted son, brother, and friend. On August 31, 2024, Chris married the love of his life, Amanda Woods. As a husband, Chris was a source of pure comfort and unconditional love. He loved his wife more than thought humanly possible, creating a marriage filled with total peace, where a harsh word was never spoken and arguments didn't exist. He was, quite simply, the most amazing husband.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Amanda Woods of Cicero, IN and his father, Richard Woods, and brother, Jeremy Woods, of Fairfield, OH. He is also survived by his cherished in-laws, nieces and nephews, extended family, and deeply valued, loyal friends who were like family to him. He was preceded in death by his cherished mother, Diana Woods.
In accordance with Chris’s final wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, he asked that those who knew and loved him celebrate his life by treasuring and sharing the beautiful memories they created together.
In honor of Chris’s fighting spirit, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society to support ongoing research and patient care, or to a local animal shelter of your choice in honor of his deep love of animals. His love, strength, and kindness will live on forever in the hearts of those he left behind.
