Christene Bell Tjelmeland

Christene Bell Tjelmeland, 90, of Brownsburg Indiana passed away on the morning of June 18, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Christene was born April 1, 1935, in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Earl and Christina Rush and later moved to Gardenia California until she married Vern Tjelmeland on November 25, 1956, and Moved to Iowa. She was a retired Physical Therapy Assistant at Bethany Manner in Story City, Iowa. After retirement they moved to Indiana to spend time with grandchildren Heather and Isaac while enjoying their own hobbies and activities. Chris enjoyed caring for her flowers, watching birds, reading mystery novels, and baking gluten free goods. She is a member of Methodist United Church in Brownsburg Indiana.

She is preceded in death by her husband Vern Tjelmeland; both parents, Earl and Christina Rush; both siblings Edwin Rush and Erlene Stenton. She is survived by her three children; Terry (Casey) Tjelmeland of Fort Myers FL, Jeff (Diane) Tjelmeland of Sacramento CA, and Glenda (Kent) Gordon of Brownsburg IN, as well as her four grandchildren; Heather (Brooks) Long, Isaac Gordon, Trey Taylor and Cole Taylor.

Christene wishes to be laid to rest next to her husband in Roland Iowa, where a private family service and burial will be held.
