Cheryl L. McNulty passed away peacefully on May 5th, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones and four-legged friends. Cheryl was born on November 16th, 1954 to Richard and Betty (Cassel) Chalfant and was raised in Parker City, IN.
Cheryl raised her two sons in French Lick, IN, surrounded by the nature that she deeply loved. She spent some time in Denver, CO pursuing her passion for writing. She eventually returned to Parker City to care for her ailing parents and then moved to Indianapolis to be near her son and daughter-in-law.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Betty (Cassel) Chalfant, as well as the numerous animals she adopted and cared for throughout her life. Cheryl is survived by her two sons that she loved dearly, Ryan McNulty and Kevin McNulty (Laura Smith); her siblings Gordon (Myra), Larry (Donna), Jim (Joni) Chalfant and Sharon Maynard; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Cheryl was an avid writer, reader and supporter of local libraries. Her book collection was formidable. She had a tremendous love of needlecraft, including cross-stitch and knitting, and created numerous works of art that adorn her loved ones’ homes. She loved bird-watching and was particularly fond of cardinals. She also had a fondness for gardening, and her favorite flower was the sunflower. She loved learning and proudly earned a degree in technical writing at the age of 56. She had a wry sense of humor, and her sharp wit and intellect will be deeply missed.
No immediate service is planned, but a future celebration of life will occur. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local animal shelter or the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The family wishes to thank the wonderful and compassionate care she received from her teams at Franciscan Health and Paradigm Palliative/Hospice Care.
