Cheryl K. Baker, age 77, passed away April 11, 2026 in her home in Cumberland, Indiana surrounded with her family.

Cheryl was born in Indianapolis to Ruth and James Carson on August 24, 1948.

She went to Arlington High School, in Indianapolis, IN. She married Clifford( Les) Baker on May 5, 1973 in Cumberland, IN. She worked for Community Hospital in Administration and later went to work for Dr Gary Hunt, DDS where she worked for 25 years in front office until she retired due to illness.

Cheryl was involved in bowling in her early years and that is how she met her husband of 52 years. She carried the passion onto her daughter, Jennifer. She was actively involved in Girl Scout’s. She was a Girl Scout leader for Hancock Co. through Jennifer’s senior year of High School. She helped many girls receive their gold award including Jennifer. It brought pure joy to her heart by helping others succeed. Her laugh was like no other and her positivity and joy was contagious! She enjoyed watching her daughter and husband bowl leagues and tournaments through out the years. She was the Mom/ wife who rooted for every single one of the teammates at every league day, and tournament. She loved spending time with her pets and was their “grandma” to three cats Oreo, Max and Ozzy and two dogs Petey and Peyton. She had a love for lighthouses. She collected anything and everything lighthouse and proudly displayed in her home. She absolutely enjoyed visiting Holland, Michigan with fellow Girl Scout leaders that she became friends with over the years and visiting her favorite lighthouse “Big Red”.

Cheryl is preceded in death by James Carson and Ruth Carson. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years. Clifford ( Les) Baker of Cumberland, IN ; her daughter Jennifer Baker of Indianapolis, IN ; her brother Terry Carson ( Edith) of Terrell, TX, and nephews Robert Carson of Dallas, TX and James Carson of Greenwood, SC as well as a large and loving extended family.

A celebration of life will be held May 16th at 2:00pm at Sero’s Family Restaurant to honor Cheryl’s life and legacy. Cheryl’s favorite!Address: 11720 E Washington StIndianapolis, IN 46229
