In loving memory of Brigadier General, Charles Leon Whitaker, born to the late Glenn Everett and Ruth (Dasher) Whitlock on June 20, 1937, in Fargo, North Dakota.
He leaves behind a loving daughter, Jennifer Klein; son-in-law, Matthew; grandchildren, Casey and Ryan; great-granddaughter, Amelia; a niece, and two nephews. And lastly, he leaves behind his devoted and grateful wife of 44 years, Deborah Ann (Aldana) Whitlock, and her siblings and their children whose presence he enjoyed much over the years. He certainly has touched the hearts of many friends and associates whom he loved much and to whom he was faithful to, as he was to us.
Of primary importance, Chuck became an Orthodox Christian late in life, but his great faith and submission to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, should serve as a great example to many. He is a member of St. Nicholas Church on Marsh Road in Indianapolis. He listened to and respected our pastor, Very Reverend Priest Dragan Petrovic.
Chuck is a retired US Army Brigadier General, a true soldier’s General. He served in the infantry. He flew fixed wing planes and helicopters during his early years of service. He attended and completed many military educational certificates and served his nation with honor and dignity. He loved everyone he served with and desired to see them grow along with him.
In his civilian life, he retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta as VP of Human Resources and Facilities Management. He has a BA in math from the University of Iowa where he was raised. He also has a MBA from Brenau University.
He completed the required courses so he might help sell highly specialized life insurance policies with Prudential through Garrett, Prather and Associates.
Chuck was known for his fidelity, commitment to hard work, love for people, as well as cats and dogs, his desire to help others and his great sense of humor. He was an audiophile, enjoyed singing and playing the organ, refereeing basketball and playing golf.
As his loving wife, I can attest to the great positive mark he left on this world, as he did in my life. And now, he will equally serve from heaven to pray for us whom he has left behind, his relatives in spirit, through blood and marriage, his comrades, friends and all those who have helped us along the way.
