Charles J. Malick Jr., 74 , of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 in Maple Park Village nursing home. Charles was born in Hartford, Connecticut on September 13, 1948 to the late Charles Malick and Elizabeth (Matirko) Malick.

In 1971 he married his wife of 51 years Joanna (Kryznel ) Malick. Charles attended New Haven College. Charles loved politics and served as an alderman in New Haven, CT.   He was very involved in the community and was a founding father of the Fair Haven Community Health Care Center. In 1978 Charles moved with Dun & Bradstreet to Indianapolis and relocated several more times around the Midwest before starting his own business and moving back to Indianapolis.

Charles loved all sports but his passion was soccer. He was a soccer referee for over 25 years and coached his own children in youth soccer for many years. He was instrumental in the development and start of the first girls soccer program at Lawrence North High School, as well as the first head coach.

Charles is survived in death by his wife Joanna Malick, his son Charles Malick III of Indianapolis and his daughter Melissa (Jeff) Flanary of Carmel, granddaughter Finley Flanary and grandsons Cooper Flanary, Wyatt Flanary and Rooney Flanary, two brothers John Malick of Branford, CT and Joseph (Carolyn) Malick of Old Saybrook,CT and three sisters Charlene (Malick )Murphy of Branford, CT, Margaret (Malick) Sommo of North Branford, CT and Elizabeth (Malick) Dituri of Cheshire, CT.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother Mary ( Frederiksen) Malick, his granddaughter Colby Flanary, his brother-in -laws Louis Sommo and Michael Murphy and his sister-law Karen (Gagiardi ) Malick. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
