Charles Baird Aldenderfer, better known as Pete, to all his family and friends.
Born September 22, 1935, in Sharon, PA to Samuel McKee and Margery Baird Aldenderfer.
He graduated from Greenville High School in 1953. Pete attended Thiel College and then Penn State where he graduated in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in Languages. Following his graduation from Penn State, he moved to Washington, DC where he worked for the NSA. While working there he met and married his wife of 67 years, Shirley (Fox) Aldenderfer. In 1962 he accepted a job with General Tire in Akron, OH and began a lifelong career in Quality Control which moved them to Berea, KY, Nashville, TN, Johnson City, TN, and finally to Indianapolis, IN in 1989.
Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley. He is survived by two married children, Phyllis Carter (Steve), of Berea, KY, and Peter Aldenderfer (Marquita), Indianapolis, IN, two grandchildren, Stephanie Ours, (Troy Sprout) of Hendersonville, TN, and Jacob Carter, (Caitlin) of Berea, KY, and three great grandchildren, Kate Ours, Mikey Ours, and Wyatt Carter.
Pete was a veteran, serving in the Army’s Critical Skills field.
Pete loved God, his family, and his country. His favorite pastime was playing contract bridge. He was a member of the American Contract Bridge League where he achieved the honored status of Sapphire Life Master. He was also a teacher and director, being an ambassador for the game wherever he went. He also loved reading and discussing the books he read.
Visitation is Wednesday, November 12, 2025, 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel.
Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Peter Zinn officiating.
Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood, IN.
