Charlene Gay Stratton nee Switzer (Char), 77 of Indianapolis, IN passed way on October 22, 2020. When she passed she was with her daughter and grand-daughter. Charlene battled with Lung Disease and Anxiety. She was born to the late Dorothy L McClain and Ollie Switzer in Indianapolis, IN.
Charlene married Michael Lee Stratton in Indianapolis, IN. After Charlene graduated High School she wanted to be an Archaeologist. However, she admits she was a horrible student. She went to work for the Department of Defense at the Finance Center on Fort Harrison Base.
Charlene lived in Apache Junction, Arizona for 3 years before returning to Indianapolis. She loved painting unfinished bisque ceramics and giving them away to friends. She liked football and basketball. I would catch her from time to time yelling at the tv because of some play.
Charlene is survived by her daughter: Candace Sue Singleton, granddaughter: Felicia Danielle (David) Collins, 2 great granddaughters: Brianna Nicole Collins and Bailey Charlotte Collins, and sister: Jackie Coers.
Mother’s ashes will be joined with her husbands, my father, Michael L Stratton. I and her grandchild and great grandchildren, along with David A Collins, will be taking those combined ashes to California where we will set them free in the ocean that Dad loved so much. Mother was terrified of deep water and drowning, but she knew that Dad would keep her safe. They’ll be Dolphins together, no more fear, no more suffering, only freedom.
Charlene’s favorite flowers are Calla Lilies, Daisies, Carnations. NEVER ROSES
