Charlene Jane (Bates) Mundy

Charlene (Bates) Mundy, 96, of Avon, IN passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at Avon Health and Rehabilitation. She was born July 28, 1929, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Cecil Bates and Opal (Laymon) Bates.

After completing her education, Charlene met and married her husband, Paul Warren Mundy, he preceded her in passing in 2004.

Charlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed reading fashion magazines and bird watching.

Her greatest joys in life however, was the time she spent with her family, who will all miss her very much.

Charlene was survived by children, Jimmie Mundy and Kara (Ora Smith); sister, Virginia Fenter of Orlando, FL; sister, Velda Danielson of Citrus Heights, CA; grandson, Colton Smith of Indianapolis, IN; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Opal Bates; brothers, William Bates and Lee Bates; and his sister, Roselyn Larkin.

Per Charlene’s wishes, there will be a private family burial. Carlene will be laid to rest at Roachdale Cemetery in Roachdale, IN.
