Cecilia A. Steinkamp

Cecilia Steinkamp, 65, of Greenwood passed away at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, at her home.

Cecilia was born on August 30, 1957, in Carthage, IL, the daughter of Edward Lawrence and Hilda Arlene Kirchner Schutte. She married the love of her life Kenneth Steinkamp on Sept. 29, 1979, in Quincy, IL. He survives.

Also surviving are a son and daughter, Matthew (Krystan) Steinkamp and Megan (William) Rogers, both of Greenwood, IN.; grandchildren Wyatt Rogers, Adalynn Steinkamp, Ella Rogers, and William Steinkamp; three sisters, Theresa Brierton, Kathleen (Mike) Lenihan and Linda (Mark) Bastian; brothers, Ralph (Becky) Schutte and Larry (Mary) Schutte; sisters-in law, Carolyn Schutte and Joyce (Joe) Terwelp and; brothers-in-law, Keith Schluter and Randy (Vicky) Steinkamp as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold Schutte; a sister, Rebecca Schluter; brothers-in-law, Mike Brierton and Gerald Steinkamp; and sister-in-law, Debbie Steinkamp.
Cecilia grew up in Augusta, IL and graduated from Southeastern High School. She was a 1979 graduate of Quincy College with a bachelors degree in social work, a profession she did her entire life. She was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Church, once running the after school programs. She always enjoyed helping people, from her neighbors to kids, such as being a big sister and a girl scout leader. As Director of Human Services she worked with low income families providing assistance with utilities, clothes and a food pantry. She was also the director of a youth home in Franklin, IN working with and mentoring kids.  Most of all she enjoyed being Grandma to her four grand kids. 

A funeral Mass will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church with graveside services to follow. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2nd at Indiana Funeral Care's Greenwood location as well as 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday Dec. 3rd at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church. 

Internment will be in the Rocklane Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Cecilia's memory may be made to United Way of Johnson County (IN) or St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
