Carrie Watson, age 29 (for the 47th year in a row), passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Born May 20, 1949, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Carrie was the oldest of four children to the late James and Nina Fisher. She spent her formative years in Twin Falls, Idaho, where she attended and graduated from high school. At just 20 years old, she embraced her independent spirit and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. It was there she met Bill Watson. They were married for 30 years and together raised two daughters, who were the center of her world.

Carrie was deeply devoted to raising her daughters with strong values and a true sense of community. A natural “doer,” she served as a room mom, Girl Scout leader for over 13 years, and a softball coach. She was a talented seamstress and gifted crafter who could make almost anything—including beautiful wedding cakes. An incredible cook, she made sure no one ever left her home hungry. Her door was always open and quickly became the gathering place for her daughters’ friends. When she wasn’t caring for others at home, Carrie spent 20 years working in the food service division of Indianapolis Public Schools, continuing her lifelong passion for serving others.

In 2002, Carrie stepped into her favorite role—“Mamaw.” She cherished it beyond measure, teaching her grandchildren how to sew, bake, and create, but most importantly, making sure they always knew how deeply they were loved. Being part of their lives was one of her greatest joys.

In 2021, after several years of retirement, Carrie showed her bravery once again by moving to South Carolina to be closer to her daughter and youngest granddaughter. There, she found a new community at the Simpsonville Senior Center, where she rediscovered her love for Euchre and formed meaningful friendships with those who appreciated her quick wit and lively presence at the card table.

Though small in stature, Carrie was a true force. Once described as “feisty” by her priest, she wore that title proudly. She was full of fire, sharp wit, and even a bit of a sailor’s vocabulary. She loved fiercely, stood her ground, and never allowed herself to be underestimated. Above all, she was a constant and unwavering presence for her daughters, always there when they needed her most.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharea (Michael) Clark and Chana (Chris) Trenner; her cherished grandchildren, Nadia, Patrick, Malia, Kiera, and Cambrie; and her brothers, Robert and Richard Fisher.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nina Fisher; her brother, Victor; and her beloved grandson, Aidan.

A visitation and service to celebrate Carrie’s life will be held at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a memorial service to follow. Come as you are. Bright colors are encouraged.

Memorial donations may also be made to the Simpsonville Activity & Senior Center (310 W. Curtis St, Simpsonville, SC 29681), where Carrie spent many happy hours at the card
