Carrell Ray Scammahorn

Carrell Ray Scammahorn, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was born July 5, 1942, in Sailor Springs, Illinois, the son of John and Reba (Breth) Scammahorn. He married his loving wife, Grace Scammahorn on February 14, 1984, who predeceased him on June 18, 2010.

Carrell retired from Dowell Schlumberger after almost 30 years. He also worked for Transfreight. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, swinging on the front porch, and playing with his grandkids.

Carrell’s surviving family includes 3 children and 8 grandchildren: Jeff (Lucy) Scammahorn of Carmel, Indiana, and their children Kerri, Veeda, and Vanna; Troy (Lisa) Scammahorn of Painesville, Ohio, and their children Derek (Kaitlyn) and Austen (Morgan); and Julie (Bryan) Vianco of Athens, Alabama and their children Kate, Jacob and Emma; 2 stepchildren and 5 step-grandchildren: Dr. Jason (Jill) Gillihan of Town and Country, Missouri and their children Andrew, Isabel and Vera; and Mandy (Pete) Stoltz of Hanson, Kentucky and their children Isaac and Mackenzie.

Surviving brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Jill Scammahorn of Chebanse, Illinois.

Preceding in death were his parents, wife, and 2 grandsons: Devin and Casey Scammahorn.

To honor his wishes and memory, there will be a private gathering for family.
