Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Sue Reed, 68, who left this world on January 12, 2026, in Martinsville, Indiana. Born on March 10, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Carolyn's life was defined by her loving nature and dedication to family.

Carolyn's educational journey began at Southport High School, from where she graduated, followed by her time at IUPUI. Her career reflected her nurturing spirit; she initially served as a teacher's aide at her children's school, positively impacting many young lives. She later embarked on a fulfilling career as a Legal Secretary at Foutty and Foutty in Indianapolis, where she was known for her hard work and professionalism.

Devoted to her family, Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband, Dale E. Reed, and their daughters, Jamie Reed (Michael J. McCracken) and Jenell (Kevin) McAdams and her  mother, Rita C. (Hedrick) Janke. The joy of her life continued through her grandchildren, Kevin C. McAdams and Kendrick Titus James Reed, who were the light in her heart. Carolyn is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Codee Holtzclaw, and her step-siblings, Dana Marie Shank (Jake Linville) and Christopher Wayne Tetrick. She cherished her role as an aunt, she survives her niece, Mackenzie Tetrick, and her nephews, Jackson Tetrick and James Connor Shank.

Though her family celebrates her life, they also grieve the loss of her son, Jordan James Reed; her father, Kenneth Tetrick; her stepfather, Mavity George "Buddy" Janke; her stepmother, Rosalie Tetrick; and her niece, Alexis Shank, who all predeceased her.

Carolyn's spirit remains indelibly marked in the hearts of those who knew her. As we gather to honor and remember her, visitation will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care – Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Carolyn Sue Reed was more than a mother, wife, and friend; she was a beacon of kindness and compassion in all her roles. Her loving presence will be profoundly missed.
