Carolyn Janet Gratigny

July 15, 1943 — May 30, 2025

Carolyn 'Jan' Gratigny, age 81, of Fishers, passed away with family at her side on May 30, 2025. Born on July 15, 1943, in Cumberland, Maryland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Virgil and Lucille Carrico. She was preceded in death by her loving partner of 33 years, David Corbett.

Carolyn was truly one of a kind-a selfless and giving soul who lived with an open heart and a generous spirit. A trailblazer in her time, she was one of the first women to graduate from Purdue University with a degree in Business. She carried a deep love for the water, particularly the ocean, where the rhythmic sound of waves always brought her peace. Her passion for seafood-especially crab legs-was well known, often joking, "a crab for a crab."

Her love for music and dancing was infectious. She once won a twist contest that earned her a spot on American Bandstand, a shining moment that reflected her vivacious energy and enthusiasm for life. She adored hosting family gatherings, where her warmth and generosity made everyone feel at home. In quieter moments, she found joy in working on puzzles and watching game shows on GSN, always eager for the next challenge.

Above all, Carolyn was devoted to her family, always offering kindness, support, and unwavering love. In accordance with her wishes, she chose to forego formal services, instead requesting that her children and grandchildren visit the beach, listen to her Spotify playlist, and celebrate her life in a way that truly reflected her spirit.

She is survived by her loving children, Brian (Sharon) Gratigny and Terri Walsh; her cherished grandchildren, Connor, Paige, Dalton, and Avery; her brother, Norman (Lois) Carrico; her niece Pamela (David) Carrico; and she is also preceded in death by her brother Jack Ewing and niece Sandy Carrico.

Carolyn's legacy is one of love, generosity, and joy-a beautiful life well lived and deeply cherished.
