Byron Eugene Elliott Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana, on December 16, 2025, at the age of 71, after a long illness. Born on November 3, 1954, in Martinsville, Indiana, Byron was the son of the late Byron Elliott Sr. and Ruthanne (Crismore) Elliott.
Byron was a graduate of Martinsville High School, class of 1973. His career spanned over three decades as a dedicated meat cutter at Kroger, where he earned the respect and admiration of both colleagues and customers alike. After retiring from Kroger, he continued to apply his skills and knowledge in his work at Clarke Power Services.
Byron's passion extended beyond his profession. He was a private pilot for many years, cherishing the moments spent flying with his father, a shared love that brought them closer and created lasting memories. Additionally, he was a proud and avid fan of the Colts, often immersing himself in every game, celebrating the triumphs and enduring the challenges alongside fellow fans.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy (Scheib) Elliott; his daughter, Leslie Smith (Mark); his son, Walter Elliott (Sherry); his stepdaughter, Megan Sobek; and his cherished granddaughter, Dana Elliott. Byron's legacy will be remembered by those he leaves behind, who will carry forward the love and joy he brought into their lives.
Preceding him in death are his parents and his sister, whose memories remain dear in the hearts of his family.
The impact of Byron's life will resonate within the lives he touched, marked by his dedication to his craft, the love for his family, and his adventurous spirit. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
