Bryan Douglas Burris, 43, of Shelbyville, Indiana, passed away on January 19, 2026, in Greenfield, Indiana. Bryan was born on September 27, 1982, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, and family man whose life was guided by faith, love, and dedication. Bryan was a firm believer in God and faithfully attended church every Sunday morning at Shelbyville Community Church, where he and his family were members.
Bryan was a proud union carpenter and loved every aspect of his work. He took great pride in his craft and in providing for his family. An outdoorsman at heart, Bryan was an avid hunter who enjoyed going out to shoot a good buck, spending time at the lake fishing with his boys, and taking his daughter to the mall to pick out a new outfit. One of Bryan’s greatest passions was his Harley. He cherished long country rides with his wife, enjoying the open road and quiet moments together. He also loved taking rides through the countryside with his Pepa, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Bryan was deeply committed to his children and never missed their sporting events, cheerleading, or basketball games. Family always came first. Bryan met the love of his life two years ago, and together they were just beginning their beautiful life, filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Bryan also had a great love for all animals, especially his beloved dog, Gracie. They were best friends, and Gracie still waits at the door each day for Bryan to come home from work, a quiet reminder of the bond they shared.
Bryan is survived by his loving spouse, Shawna Martin Burris; his children, Aydria Burris and Kyston Burris; and his stepson, Aiden Branson. He is also survived by his parents, Pamela Hedges (William) and DJ Burris (Joyce); his sister and best friend, Lisa Stafford Ledford (Robert); his stepsister, Andrea Salon (Dave); his stepbrother, Billy Hedges; and his brother-in-law, Randall (Tayla) Martin. He is further survived by his grandparents, Joe and Dene Wilmoth and the late grandfather Bill Bradley; his aunt, Darla Sexton (Mark); his uncles, Steve Bradley and Billy Bradley; and his eleven beloved nieces and nephews: James, Jordan, Jaden, Samantha, Chelsea, Mina, Aria, Savannah, Phelan, Kingston, and Mason, along with many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2, at Indiana Funeral Care, 2433 E. Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana 46143, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Merry Popewell of Shelbyville Community Church. Following the service, Bryan will be laid to rest in a mausoleum at Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229, with a short graveside service.
Family and friends are invited to honor Bryan’s life through prayer, shared memories, and the love he gave so freely. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9 Bryan Douglas Burris will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
