Bruce E Turner ,79, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, in Carmel, Indiana. Born on October 5, 1946, in Garrett, he was the son of Glenn and Mary (Gray) Turner of LaOtto. Bruce was proud graduate of Huntertown High School and Purdue University. On July 27, 1968, he married the love of his life, Beverly J Malone of Fort Wayne.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Bruce found joy in fishing, exploring nature and traveling. He and Beverly cherished every opportunity to journey together – whether near or far – with their children and grandchildren. Bruce was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose generosity and strength shaped the lives of those he loved most. He gave back to his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Huntertown Fire Department and as a highly decorated leader within the Boy Scouts of America.

Professionally, Bruce was a pioneer in the field of computing. His groundbreaking work advanced geographic information systems, medical information & imaging and data management for the courts and criminal justice system. Bruce began his career at Purdue University before joining Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in 1974. He later served as the Chief Technology Officer for the City of Indianapolis. His visionary efforts helped lay the foundation for many of the modern technologies that continue to shape our world today.

Bruce is survived by his son, Marcus (Jennifer) Turner of Avon; his daughter Molly Brosseit of Indianapolis; and five beloved grandchildren: Katherine (Braven) LaVigne of Colorado Springs, CO; Kevin (Madyson) Turner of Avon; Kelly Turner of Gainesville, TX, Susan Brosseit and Colin Brosseit. His love and guidance will remain a lasting influence in each of their lives.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis. Visitation will begin at 10:30am, followed by a memorial service beginning at noon. Those unable to attend in person are invited to join via livestream at secondchurch.org/funeral.
