Brian K. Gartin Obituary

Brian Keith Gartin was born on September 27, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Vivian G. and Robert W. Gartin, Jr. (deceased). He was their second child. He was the second grandchild, and the first boy to be born in the Robert W. Gartin, Sr. family in 29 years. Brian was a graduate of St. Andrew, the Apostle Catholic School and Scecina Memorial High School, Class of 1978 where he was a member of the pep squad. After completing high school, Brian completed a vocational training program and soon began working as an assistant in the Book Binding Department at Indiana University-Purdue University. He worked there for 25 years. When that operation closed, Brian worked as a deli clerk at Meijer’s which was his final position before retiring due to his disability.

Among his many interests, Brian especially enjoyed music and collecting cartoon and action figures. His tastes in music ranged from the Beatles, Eric Clapton, and the Rolling Stones, as well as many others. His action figure collection was vast. Brian also liked historical books and movies and admired Abraham Lincoln, John Kennedy, and Martin Luther King.

Brian went home to be with our Lord on Monday, March 25, 2024 after a sudden illness. His father, Robert W. Gartin, Jr., preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Vivian Gartin , sisters, Janet Moore and Gail Gartin, and one nephew, Zachary Davenport. Brian is also survived by an aunt, Joyce Huston of Rex Georgia, and one uncle, John Leeke of Odenton, Maryland as well as host of cousins, extended family, and friends.

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth--
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
