Brenda Sue Rickett

 Brenda Sue Rickett, age 75, of Mooresville, Indiana passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

She spent her wonderful years bringing warmth, laughter, and wisdom to everyone she knew.

Through her 13-year breast cancer journey, she taught those around her what it looks like to live bravely and always with joy and a smile. Surprising doctors at every turn, defying the odds, and remaining spunky and outspoken even until the end. Through the halls of the Simone Cancer Center and IU West Hospital, she was known as the walking miracle.

Born on September 1, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Edward "Peanut" Skirvin Sr. and Shirley McKamey.

On April 27, 1968, she married the love of her life, Leonard G. Rickett, and together they built a home filled with family and tradition in Mooresville, Indiana. She was a devoted mother to their daughter, Angela.

She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends.

Brenda is survived by her daughter Angela "Jenna" (Rick) Lynn, sisters: Linda Anast-May (Tom), Sandy (Larry) Taylor, brother: Edward "Bud" Skirvin Jr. (Mildred) She was a proud grandmother to Chelsea (Christopher) Morris and Tyler Lynn. She was blessed and loved dearly by her great grandchildren Tyler, Jaxon "Sugar Dumplin'," and Maverick Morris and Karsyn Lynn.

Brenda is preceded in death by her loving husband Leonard, her parents and her brothers Dean Skirvin and David Skirvin.

A celebration of life for Brenda will be held on Thursday, October 22nd, 2026 from 12 pm to 2:30 pm at Indiana Funeral Care-West, 5791 Rockville Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224, followed by a memorial service at 2:30 pm.

Brenda will be laid to rest in Maple Hill Cemetery, 709 Harding St, Plainfield, Indiana 46168.
