Brenda Sue Moore, 72, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, in Columbus, Indiana.
Brenda was born on May 15, 1954, in Liberty, Kentucky, to Osbin and Mattie Wheeler.
Brenda retired from Franklin College in 2019 after many years of dedicated service. She was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Brenda loved her family fiercely and unconditionally, never met a stranger, and would gladly give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome.
Children held a special place in Brenda's heart. She never met a child she didn't adore, and neighborhood kids always found their way to her home. Even after becoming a great-grandmother, she continued creating cherished memories by hosting countless sleepovers at "Nena's House," where laughter, love, and warm hugs were always in abundance.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Osbin and Mattie Wheeler; her sister, Effie (Mike) Pruitt; her brother, Osbin Wheeler Jr.; her nephew, Marvin Pruitt; her grandson, Alonzo "AJ" Goode Jr.; and her great-grandson, Trevor Jaycob Whitehair Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Sarah Moore and her husband, Dennis Carney, of Columbus, Indiana, and Sherry Goode of Columbus, Indiana; her beloved grandchildren, Khrissy Mahoy, Trenton Whitehair, Derek Anthony, Trisha Whitehair, Ian Anthony, Trevor Whitehair, and Tamyrah Carney; nine great-grandchildren; her brothers Noel Wheeler and Richard Wheeler; her three cherished fur babies, Belle, Lilly, and Sam; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished as her own.
Brenda's kindness, generosity, and unconditional love touched countless lives. Her greatest joy was her family, and the love she poured into them will continue for generations. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of compassion, generosity, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
