Brenda Ann Engen passed away peacefully at her home in Carmel, IN on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The wife of Michael Engen, mother of Alex Engen, Jill Engen, and Jake (Gracie) Engen, grandmother of Dillan Engen, sister of Randy (Allyn) Selesky and she is also survived by many cherished relatives and friends. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 27 from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm at Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg, IL. A visitation will also be held Saturday, March 28, from 9:30am until the Funeral Mass at 10:30am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 West Palatine Road, Inverness, IL. Burial will be at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated to the Les Turner ALS Foundation, Skokie, IL.

Brenda was born September 1, 1965 in Chicago, IL to Dolores and the late Ronald Selesky. She was best known for her dedication to family, enthusiasm for life, caring nature and a strong work ethic. Brenda grew up in Hoffman Estates, IL and went on to attend Illinois State University where she earned her bachelor of science degree. At college she met the love of her life and married Michael on August 14, 1988. They resided and raised their family mostly in the northwest suburban area of Chicago.

Her education and various work environments in the insurance and health care field, most recently as a Federal Insurance Navigator, complimented her organizational abilities and compassionate persona. Brenda loved family vacations, celebrating holidays and birthdays, coaching track, hanging out with her special friends, running at the Chicago Marathon, attending sporting events (especially the Chicago Bears) and dancing the night away.

Brenda has left an imprint of faith and unconditional love. She will live in our hearts forever.
