Beverly "Kay" Marburger Mace, 87 , passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026. Born on June 6, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of Donald and Emma Marburger.
Kay’s life was defined by her unwavering faith and commitment to serving others. A devout Christian, she was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. Her dedication to the church included serving as a Deacon and volunteering for various causes that reflected her compassionate spirit. Her passion for giving back extended beyond the church walls. Kay volunteered with numerous local organizations throughout her life, including the Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, the Christamore House, the Children's Bureau, Methodist Hospital Task Core, Mu Alpha Latreian, The Arbutus Garden Club and the Indianapolis Great Banquet.
Kay attended Tudor Hall before continuing her studies at Columbia College and Butler University. She contributed significantly to her family’s legacy through her work at E.F. Marburger & Son both before her marriage and after raising her children. Her professional endeavors also included a fulfilling career as a fashion consultant at L.S. Ayres, where she shared her impeccable sense of style and love for design.
In addition to her volunteer work, Kay found joy in gardening, traveling, and home decor. Her green thumb brought beauty to every space she tended to, while her eye for design made every home she touched warm and inviting.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Kay is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert B. Mace; her daughter Mary Kay Mace French (John); her son Robert B. Mace Jr.; her sister Linda Painton; and her brother Ron Marburger. She was a proud grandmother to Maggie Mace, Thomas French, and Robert “Chris” French. Kay also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who cherished her deeply. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Betty Jo Marburger.
Kay was sweet and loving - a woman whose kindness radiated in every interaction. She had an innate ability to make those around her feel valued and cared for.
