Betty Joan McDaniel

Betty Joan McDaniel, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 28, 2026 with family by her side.

She was born on April 27, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and Margaret Himes. She married Roy McDaniel in December 1951. Roy precedes her in death.

Betty lived her life with incredible compassion. She supported Wheeler Mission and adopted a child through Compassion International.

She was the head baker at Decatur Central High School for over 25 years.

Betty is survived by her children, Roy (Sherrill) McDaniel, Carol (Bill) Collins, Mike (Shawna) McDaniel, and Pam (Rick) Burba; grandchildren, Bridget, Mariah (Conner), Kristin (Eric), Carey (Tony), Cody (Jali), Megan (Morgan), Michelle (Justin), Ryan, Justin (Shannen), and MaKayla; 18 great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Indiana Funeral Care West, 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis 46224. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Betty will be laid to rest following the service at Floral Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty's name to Wheeler Mission or any food pantry.
