Bertha Ann (Phillips) Robinson
August 20, 1945 – October 9, 2026
Bertha Ann (Phillips) Robinson, affectionately known as Ann, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the age of 81.
Born in Vincennes, Indiana, Ann was a woman of remarkable intelligence, strength, and determination. As a single mother raising her two sons, Todd and Brian, she worked as a hairstylist and waitress, including at the Executive Inn under Bob Green, while putting herself through college. After earning her associate degree, she went on to build a successful 30-year career as a systems analyst for the State of Indiana. Working during the early years of computer programming, Ann took great pride in her ability to write computer programs and establish herself in an emerging field.
Those who knew Ann best will remember her for her wit, wonderful sense of humor, and unforgettable laughter. She had a playful, mischievous spirit and a gift for making ordinary moments extraordinary.
Ann loved animals, gardening, cooking, and, above all, spending time with her family. Whether enjoying movies, exploring garage sales, or spending Sunday afternoons together, she created memories that her family will treasure forever.
Ann shared many wonderful years of marriage with her loving husband, William A. Robinson, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William "Wig" Phillips and L. Della (Riggle) Steelman, and her brothers, Ronald Dean Phillips and Byron Phillips.
She is survived by her sons, William Todd Phillips (Jayme) and Brian Phillips (Sarah); her stepchildren, Cliff Robinson, Todd Robinson, and Karen Snoddy (Jamie); her grandchildren, Samantha Lambert (Jesse), Stephanie Phillips (Blake), Rachel Phillips, Charles Powell (Kaila), and Karina Snoddy; and her great-grandchildren, Haylee Koss, Charlie Powell, Logan Koss, and Eleanor Lambert.
Ann will be remembered for her strength, humor, laughter, and the love she shared with her family. Her stories and the memories she created will live on through generations.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Guests should enter through the 34th Street entrance.
