Bernard Thomas Gallagher

Bernard Thomas Gallagher, a beloved patriarch of his family and a highly respected bartender at Daymon's Lounge in Indianapolis, passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on July 18, 1929, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the product of a heritage marked by resilience, as his parents were the first U.S.-born generation coming from Ireland.

Bernard's life was one of dedication and service, particularly evident during his time in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Colonel. He honorably served in Korea with the 25th Division, 35th Regiment, and heavy mortar unit. His military service exemplified his commitment and strength, traits that also carried over into his personal life.

Known for his engaging personality and welcoming demeanor, Bernard spent many years behind the bar at Daymon's Lounge, where he became a cherished figure within the community. His ability to connect with people was unmatched, earning him respect not just as a bartender, but as a trusted friend and confidant to many who entered his establishment.

Bernard was the last surviving sibling of ten. He was predeceased by his father, John Gallagher, his mother, Mary Gallagher, his son, Kevin Gallagher, and his granddaughter, Charity Gallagher. He leaves behind an Irish clan of nieces and nephews who adored him.

A visitation in honor of Bernard Thomas Gallagher will be held on January 25, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service with full military honors at 3:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care East, located at 1307 Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46219.
