Belinda Maxie passed on March 3, 2026 in Brownstown, Indiana after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. Belinda was born on July 31, 1965 in Flemingburg, KY. She graduated from Ripley High School in 1983. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Miami University in 1987. She later earned a Masters in Education from Indiana Wesleyan in 2008. She taught middle school social studies for 18 years in the greater Dayton, Ohio area. She touched countless lives and was a champion for her students.
Those that knew her loved her for her outgoing personality. She was not one to mince words and had no problem telling you like it is. She was a loving mother and dear friend. She was a source of comfort, wisdom, and encouragement for all those she loved.
Belinda is survived by her children Kayleigh Grippa (Dayton, OH) and John (Caroline Scheurger) Grippa (Cleveland, OH), one grandchild Nate Grippa (Cleveland, OH), her siblings Linda Speer (Florida), Brenda Sawyer (Crothersville, IN), and Jimmy Maxie (Crothersville, IN) and significant other Mike Hostetler (Crothersville, IN). She is preceded in death by her parents Roy Maxie and Royce Pfeffer.
The visitation will occur on Tuesday March 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at Indiana Funeral Care in Greenwood, Indiana. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm.
