Beatrice Chilton

March 5, 1943 — February 18, 2024

Beatrice "Bea" Chilton, 80, longtime resident of Indianapolis.

Passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 18th, 2024.

Attended St. Anne's grade school and St. Johns high school.

In the simplest words, Bea was a beautiful woman in a million different ways. A daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mom, and grandmother, loved by so many. She amazed those around her daily by her strength. Ask anyone who knew her, they may describe her as spunky, funny and charismatic. Let us not forget that she was always straight to the point and never afraid to be her wonderful and authentic self. Collectively, everyone would agree that she was extra special. She had a spirit full of joy; truly a beaming ray of light. Some of the things that made Bea unique include her not having a favorite color, but being drawn to pink, loving tulips, collecting umbrellas, and making crafts. As well as leaving her tree up year round to decorate it for each holiday. When she lived at Brookhaven apartment complex, she was appointed to organize bingo, games, pitch ins, decorating, and other affiliated activities.

Throughout Beatrice's life, a trace of radiance can be found when looking at the impact she made in each position she held. One establishment being the Graphic Arts Industry. Many of you know her as the colorful manager for the franchise of Hot Sam's Pretzel and Corn Dog on a Stick in the Washington Square mall in the 80's-90's. She then shifted to A Cookie Store and an Ice Cream shop in the Circle Center Mall. After spending many years managing the Indianapolis school cafeterias, Beatrice eventually retired. She was very instrumental in guiding many young individuals through the years using her tough love style.  A treasure to all who knew her.

Bea thrived in social settings. She always wanted to be part of the fun! A determined woman who rallied for many teams. Being a team player herself, she bowled at Hindel Bowl with friends and nephews. Consistently making an effort to show up for the Westvaco Men's softball team in rain or shine. A great supporter of gymnastics and Acro dance. She enjoyed going to competitions and watching classes. The gymnastics family admired her positive presence and cheerful attitude.

Beatrice had a generous heart, a real people person. She was committed to sharing her time volunteering. This included the Indiana Donor Network as well as Relay for Life. Donating blood and organs was extremely important to Bea. One of her wishes would be for everyone to donate as well.

She was preceded in death by her son Joseph "Joey" Earl McAllister II, and her siblings Patricia (Chilton) Crouch, Antionette (Chilton) Branham, and Oral "Skip" Sylvester Chilton ll.

She is survived by her children David Alan McAllister, Susan Marie McAllister, Michael Scott McAllister, siblings Rosalie Chilton Ritter, Tehani Chilton (James) Barber, and grandchildren Krista Nicole Parmer, Leah Faye Baker, David Michael McAllister, Samantha Jo McAllister, and McKayla Nicole McAllister as well as many nieces and nephews.
