Barbara Lynn Gebhardt

March 3, 1948 — June 24, 2025

Barbara Lynn Gebhardt passed away peacefully in Indianapolis on June 24, 2025. She was born to Wilson and Wahneita Gebhardt on March 3, 1948, in South Bend, Indiana where she grew up and graduated from John Adams High School.

Preceding her in death were her parents and sister, Gail Randall. She is survived by her sisters, Carol Gebhardt and Janet (Kenneth) Ritter; nephews Steven Randall, Robert (Kate) Randall, Justin (Thea) Ritter; niece Sarah (Brian) McGilton; five grandnieces, and one grandnephew.

Barb always loved the mountains and chose to attend the University of Colorado where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. After working several years as a Physical Therapist at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, she completed her Master’s degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Notre Dame. She then managed rehabilitation programs in Dayton, Ohio, Fairfax, Virgina, and Indianapolis, Indiana where she worked within Community Hospital Systems.

Barb eventually moved to Estes Park, purchasing a house facing the mountains and Longs Peak. She left administration and returned to her PT roots working at Estes Park Health Hospital and later in home health serving mountain residents. Barb was active in St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church and belonged to Daughters of the King. She volunteered at Crossroads Ministry and at Rocky Mountain National Park. She was an active hiker and loved her RMNP service at the Wild Basin area. Upon retirement, Barb took many Road Scholar hiking trips to England, Scotland, Ireland, throughout Europe, and New Zealand. She battled multiple types of cancer throughout her life but always lived on her own terms. We will miss her.

Contributions may be made in Barb’s memory to the American Cancer Society, Rocky Mountain Conservancy at Rocky Mountain Conservancy, or  St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church.
